Candidates who applied for admission into the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) for the 2026/2027 academic session are currently asking an important question: Has ESUT started giving admission?
The answer is yes, ESUT has started the 2026/2027 admission process, and current information indicates that admission recommendations are being uploaded and processed through the appropriate admission channels.
The official ESUT portal currently provides a dedicated 2026/2027 Post UTME Ranking result checking service and also has an option to Check Admission Status for regular undergraduate candidates. The university’s portal notice states that screening results are available for candidates to view.
However, candidates should understand that admission is normally released in stages. Therefore, the fact that ESUT has started giving admission does not mean that every candidate will see an admission offer at the same time.
This article explains the latest ESUT admission update, how to check your status, what JAMB CAPS means, why some candidates may not have been admitted yet, and what to do if your ESUT admission status is still showing “Not Admitted.”
Has ESUT Started Giving Admission for 2026/2027?
Yes. ESUT has started the 2026/2027 admission process.
Recent 2026/2027 admission information reports that ESUT has begun uploading qualified candidates’ admission recommendations to the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), with the process taking place in stages.
More importantly, the official ESUT portal currently contains a “Check Admission Status” option for regular students, alongside the 2026/2027 Post UTME result checker.
This means candidates who participated in the ESUT 2026/2027 screening exercise should begin checking both:
- The ESUT admission portal
- JAMB CAPS
Admission processing can take time because candidates are not necessarily admitted simultaneously.
Is ESUT Admission List 2026/2027 Out?
Current information indicates that ESUT has started releasing or processing admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
However, candidates should be careful when interpreting the phrase “admission list is out.”
A university can begin uploading admission recommendations without every candidate being admitted at once. Admission may appear gradually on JAMB CAPS as different programmes and batches are processed.
The official ESUT portal currently allows candidates to check their admission status, making the portal one of the important places to monitor your admission.
Therefore, if you have not yet received an admission offer, it does not automatically mean that you have been rejected.
How to Check ESUT Admission Status 2026/2027
Candidates can check their ESUT admission status through the official ESUT portal.
Follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the Official ESUT Portal
Go to the official ESUT portal used for admission and other student services.
Step 2: Select Admission Status
Look for the “Check Admission Status” option under the regular student services section.
Step 3: Enter Your Required Details
Provide the details requested by the portal.
Make sure the information you enter matches the details used during your ESUT screening registration.
Step 4: Submit the Request
Click the appropriate button to continue.
Step 5: Check Your Admission Status
Your current admission status should be displayed if your record has been processed.
The official ESUT portal currently lists “Check Admission Status” among its regular undergraduate services.
How to Check ESUT Admission on JAMB CAPS
Checking your ESUT portal is important, but candidates should also monitor their JAMB CAPS because the admission offer must go through the JAMB admission process.
To check:
- Visit the JAMB e-Facility platform.
- Log in with your JAMB details.
- Select Check Admission Status.
- Open Access My CAPS.
- Select Admission Status.
- Check whether ESUT has offered you admission.
If JAMB CAPS shows that you have been offered admission, carefully follow the instructions provided by JAMB concerning acceptance or rejection of the offer.
What Does “Not Admitted” Mean on ESUT Portal?
If your ESUT portal or JAMB CAPS currently shows “Not Admitted,” do not immediately conclude that you have lost your chance.
During an ongoing admission process, universities may still be processing candidates.
A candidate can see “Not Admitted” for several reasons, including:
- The candidate’s admission has not yet been processed.
- The university has not yet recommended the candidate.
- JAMB has not yet reflected the recommendation on CAPS.
- The candidate is being considered in another admission batch.
- There may be outstanding admission requirements.
- The candidate may not have met the requirements for the selected programme.
The correct response is to continue monitoring the official ESUT portal and JAMB CAPS.
Why Has My Friend Received ESUT Admission But Mine Has Not?
It is normal for candidates applying to the same university to receive admission updates at different times.
Admission processing can depend on factors such as:
- Programme of study
- Available spaces
- Candidate’s UTME performance
- Post-UTME/screening performance
- O’Level requirements
- Programme-specific admission requirements
- JAMB processing
- Admission batch
Therefore, one candidate receiving admission does not necessarily mean that all other candidates should have received theirs.
ESUT Admission Is Released in Batches
Candidates should understand that admission does not necessarily appear for everyone on one particular day.
Universities may process candidates in stages.
For ESUT candidates, this means that:
Candidate A may see “Admission Offered” while Candidate B still sees “Not Admitted.”
Candidate B may still need to wait for further processing or another admission batch.
For this reason, candidates should avoid paying anyone who claims to have a special connection to ESUT and promises to “bring out” admission.
ESUT 2026/2027 Post UTME Screening Result
The official ESUT portal currently states that the 2026/2027 Post UTME Ranking results are available for viewing. Candidates are advised to log in with the appropriate credentials to check their screening results.
The portal also provides a dedicated option for checking the 2026/2027 Post UTME results.
Candidates who have not yet checked their screening result should do so because the result is relevant to the admission process.
What Was the ESUT 2026/2027 Screening Process?
ESUT’s 2026/2027 undergraduate screening was conducted online.
Current information on the 2026/2027 screening exercise states that registration ran from July 7 to August 15, 2026, with a screening fee of ₦2,000. The screening process was online rather than a physical aptitude test.
Candidates who did not originally choose ESUT could also apply after completing the appropriate JAMB change-of-institution process.
Direct Entry candidates were also included in the screening process.
ESUT 2026/2027 Cut-Off Marks
ESUT used different UTME eligibility thresholds depending on the programme.
Current published information for the 2026/2027 screening lists higher thresholds for some competitive programmes and lower thresholds for other programmes. For example, the reported thresholds include:
| Programme category | Minimum UTME score |
|---|---|
| Medicine, Nursing, Law | 240 |
| Pharmacy, Optometry, Physiotherapy | 220 |
| Medical Laboratory Science, Radiography, Computer Science and selected programmes | 200 |
| Several other competitive programmes | 180 |
| Agriculture, Education, Environmental Sciences and other eligible programmes | 160 |
These figures relate to eligibility for the relevant programmes and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of admission.
What If Your ESUT Admission Is Still Not Showing?
If you have checked your ESUT portal and JAMB CAPS and there is no admission yet, there are several practical steps you can take.
1. Check Your Screening Result
Confirm that your ESUT screening result has been successfully processed.
The official ESUT portal currently provides a 2026/2027 screening-result checker.
2. Check JAMB CAPS Regularly
Admission may appear on CAPS after the university recommends a candidate.
3. Confirm Your O’Level Result
Make sure your required O’Level result has been uploaded correctly to your JAMB profile where applicable.
4. Check Your Course Requirements
Confirm that your UTME subjects and O’Level subjects meet the requirements for your chosen programme.
5. Be Patient During Ongoing Processing
If ESUT is still processing admissions, a temporary “Not Admitted” status may change later.
Can ESUT Still Give Me Admission If I Have Not Been Admitted Yet?
Yes, it is possible if the admission process is still ongoing and you remain eligible.
Candidates should not treat an early “Not Admitted” message as a final rejection unless the university or JAMB has officially concluded the relevant admission process.
Continue monitoring:
- ESUT admission portal
- ESUT official announcements
- JAMB CAPS
- Your JAMB profile
Avoid relying on unofficial WhatsApp groups or individuals claiming to have inside information.
What to Do If ESUT Gives You Admission
If your status changes to Admission Offered, take the next steps carefully.
Accept the Admission on JAMB CAPS
If JAMB CAPS displays the admission offer, follow the official JAMB procedure to accept it.
Print Your Admission Letter
After completing the required acceptance process, print your JAMB admission letter when it becomes available.
Follow ESUT Registration Instructions
ESUT will provide instructions concerning acceptance fees, verification, school fees, medical requirements, course registration and other registration procedures.
Keep Your Documents Safe
You may need documents such as:
- JAMB result
- JAMB admission letter
- O’Level result
- Birth certificate or declaration of age
- ESUT screening documents
- Passport photographs
- Other documents specified by ESUT
Only submit documents requested through official channels.
ESUT Admission Portal vs JAMB CAPS
Candidates sometimes become confused because their ESUT portal and JAMB CAPS may display different information.
The two systems serve different purposes.
ESUT Portal
The university portal provides information about your admission application and university-side processing.
JAMB CAPS
JAMB CAPS is the platform through which JAMB processes and reflects admission offers from institutions.
Because of this, candidates should monitor both platforms rather than relying on only one.
Has ESUT Started Giving Admission for Medicine, Nursing and Law?
ESUT has programme-specific admission requirements, and candidates should not assume that every course will be processed at exactly the same time.
Medicine, Nursing, Law and other highly competitive programmes may have different admission requirements and candidate competition.
Therefore, if you applied for one of these programmes and your status is still pending, continue checking the official channels rather than assuming that admission has ended.
Important Warning to ESUT Candidates
Candidates should be careful about admission scams during the admission period.
Do not give your:
- JAMB password
- Email password
- ATM PIN
- Bank PIN
- OTP
- Banking login details
to anyone claiming to be an admission agent.
Also be cautious about people who promise:
- Guaranteed ESUT admission
- Admission upgrades
- Fake admission letters
- Changing your admission status for money
- “Special” admission slots
Use the official ESUT portal and JAMB platforms for admission-related activities.
